When Hatred becomes Xenopathy; The neurotic, psychotic and specific defensive
functions of hate. Jacques Siboni, M.D., Visiting Psychoanalyst
 766 Valencia St., San Francisco

New College of California Graduate School of Psychology is pleased to
present:

When Hatred becomes Xenopathy; The neurotic, psychotic and specific defensive
functions of hate.

Introduction by Dean Linda James Myers.

The first phase of psychoanalysis with its incumbent hatreds and loves
particularly towards the analyst is always symptomatic of the patient’s
fantasm projected onto the other. It is the jouissance wrapped up in the
extreme passions, particularly hate, that offers the analyst an unusual
opportunity to enable patients to confront the disturbing fantasies so
frequently tied up in the abject assumptions about the other. We will explore
how xenopathy is related to the jouissance of the Other and we will explore
how psychoanalysis can help to deconstruct the gaze in order that an
intersubjective exchange can reach beyond the fragility of visual illusion.

Jacques Siboni is well versed in Lacanian theory, and is a well-regarded
analytic supervisor. His teaching style elucidates and clarifies how Lacanian
theory works in clinical practice. Dr. Siboni lives and practices
psychoanalysis in Paris. He will be available for individual consultations.

“Two Approaches of the Subject of the Unconscious”

Introduction Dean Linda James Myers

Jacques Siboni, M.D. Visiting Psychoanalyst

-- 1 Freudian understanding of path leading from perception to conciousness,
an object of desire.

-- 2 Freudian sublimation: when symptom is tamed, a new concept arises, the
sinthome.

- Part 1: An object of reality turns into an object of desire when fetched by
a human being.
        - The lapsus as a marker of the unconscious structure.
        - The process from perception to consciousness in Freud's letter # 52
to Fliess
        - The same process remodeled by Lacan.
        - The object of reality becomes an object of desire.
        - The tiny bit of reality accessible to the talking being.
        - The subject of the Unconscious

Part 2: From symptom to sublimation
		- Minimal structure of the Real
        	- Minimal structure of the Imaginary
        	- Minimal structure of the Symbolic
        	- Structure of a subject's instant
        	- Three modalities of jouissance
        	- The Freud's triad Inhibition, Symptom, Anguish and the Lacan's
triad, Anguish, Inhibition, Symptom.
        	- From the handicapping symptom to the sinthome, an approach to
sublimation.

Part 3: A topological approach of the concepts depicted beforehead.
        - A brief introduction to topology
        - The Saussure's Signifier-Signifying fraction.
        - This fraction bar is a Moebius strip.
        - The object of desire is a disk
        - The process from perception to consciousness stands on a projective
plane
        - Real, Symbolic and Imaginary are toruses
        - A subject's instant is a borromean knot
        - The subject dealing with sinthom is a four toruses borromean knot.

All the best

Jacques Siboni
