Dear Professor Freud,

I was really excited to learn the restoration of your sister, both in its interest for the freedom that makes you in your travel plans. I hope you will now have all the rest you need to Carlsbad, so that you are rested and again in September.

I went to the meeting with your daughter yesterday (1), imagining that she had to go through Hamburg, and I found it in good shape, very satisfied with the little trip. I have accompanied, she and her friend, because they had to travel a route through the countryside complicated, with several train changes, etc. She told me that you were grossly overworked lately ; I hope, next year, you will show more restraint in your hard work, because it must be very exhausting.

Bleuler's letter seemed, generally, very satisfactory, and very character-istic ; I addressed to Abraham. I look forward to the Interpretation of Dreams. I have not played since the release of the latest edition, This is for me a long interval, and I am delighted with the opportunity to refresh my memory on various issues as well as to study the additions(2).

Eder reacted badly to the "sharp spoon", deeming it "despicable, unworthy of you, missing generosity towards the valuable work done by Jung ", etc. – which is a typical example of emotional judgment. Its tendency is clearly a compromise on the matter, but he has sympathy for Jung on the religious and he is caught in a strange rebellion Semitic – a jumble of complex personal.

Rank tells me that Ferenczi's coming to London, but I have not had any news of it ; it's hard to take the pen and usually responds that second stimulus.

With all my best wishes

Affectionately to you

Jones.

Dear Professor,

It's a good thing that our letters do not be crossed once more. It is with great satisfaction that I consider the forthcoming withdrawal of the Swiss (1).

Bleuler's letter that Jones sent me today remember the last time passed Burghölzli, Jung distant association : This is undoubtedly a gateway can Bleuler us back. Have you paid attention to the last sentence?

I think that would Bleuler encouraged him to take the lead in Switzerland. We invite all the same Congress; we'll see what happens. Compensate its rallying in the face of all the world's wrongs we have cause schism.

For the case in hand Pfister, I notice quite opposite to yours, dear Professor!

I look forward to the latest revelations about the sexuality of the child!

encore 10 or 12 days, and I'm off.

Receive, you and your wife, the very best wishes for your

Cher ami,

I just spent two weeks have been the busiest of the year and I have resisted. I note that the strand of sympathy to show my friends during the "bomb" still makes me much good. Still no reaction Zurich! Have I suggested waiting until 20 to send the circular?

Lou Salome sent me a letter she had with Adler - we see in any light penetration and clarity Lou, but treachery and baseness Adler; to deal with such a scoundrel!… Casimiro also sometimes loses his courage.

The Interpretation of Dreams arrived today and it will come soon.

We can not begin work presentations planned for Dresden if we are safe non-Swiss. If the band is famous, we will not say a word. Premature ejaculation would seem then be a very appropriate theme. Treat the issue of castration only insofar as it seemed useful you will. To me, the time of publication has not yet come. Things are complicated, extended, and thereby away from their solution, so I ask you to show you also reserve, in the interest of prudence.

I had seen the original organization of the first human sexuality [the Uraufbau of early human sexuality] ; I will join you later. But for the moment, after work 12 at 13 hours per day for two weeks, I am unable to synthesize and I am anxious holiday.

Hoping to find yours now well along the Baltic.

Your cordially dedicated

Freud.

My dear Jones,

Thank you very much for all your gifts and your new. I know your speaking skills even bigger than your writing skills, and I welcome the news of your success in Durham.

Against my habits, I have carefully read the articles on the repression in forgetting that you sent me and that I should try, and what seemed to be a highly respectable level among psychologists was indeed a poor level analyst. I did not find anything new in this verbiage - so that the charge against Hamlet Polonius door -, some amount of nonsense and to discussions on sides that could be resolved by reference to a single sentence me. Still, we must be satisfied.

Putnam made the promise to store our side seems formal, but it is in dire need of a nanny to hold hands and guide his steps. He has no idea of perfidy Adler (1), Lou Salome sent me a letter from him, written 1913, who was able to impress.

I am pleased to announce that my sister recovers, and we do not have to delay our departure Sunday evening set at. He will have to wait a week or more at Cottage Sanatorium before a journey.

The Congress of Berlin is not against my line, but I do not see the interest to participate in the conference. Perhaps you'd better go to make you better understand the people of Berlin.

I will leave tomorrow Loe. She recovered quickly after more morphine, and I see no way to get it out for now. It does not yet believe the ψα, but it is charming for all its faults, that are more than largely overshadowed by its excellent. There has light and shade.

The 4and edition of the Interpretation of Dreams has just been published and will arrive in a few days.

What is the way that the decision to show for Jung Eder ? I am sorry for you, but it is the action of "Curettes" [sharp spoon], remove all tissue insane (2).

Have you received a letter from Bleuler ?

My next card to give you my address Karlsbad.

Sincerely you

Freud.

Dear Professor Freud,

I was very sorry to hear of your illness sister, and I hope the next news I receive will be much better.

Attached is a letter asse2 flickering Putnam. Its «Gutmu[ü]activity » [good-natured] is actually a disease. Anyway, I will try to prevent spawn with Adler, and hope to succeed. I will speak to Rank Article corrected (1).

Cut, attached, of British Medical Journal me rapping elle votre remarque "It's the fewest people possible, in scientific dispute mannerly, ges-chweige because to remain objective2. "Still, the comments of the editor are so obviously displaced and controversies that the reader will derive an overall impression mostly favorable attitude to my, and altogether I hold that it is a chance to have provoked a reaction from him as stupid.

I also excellent news to report on the part of psychologists English, This confirms my hope that they will prove to be more accessible than neurologists. Durham meeting was an unqualified success. I will give details in the Magazine. All speakers were on our side, and we can say that the ideas of repression and the unconscious have been well received by the English psychologists and philosophers3. The rest of infantile sexuality, Luckily that has not been addressed in the first. I know that the acceptance of these two concepts in the abstract is a small step in the direction of their practical application, but it is still a good start. In some, there was the usual tendency to explain oblivion by the ordinary principles, and reserve the explanation ψα few cases, but I put the laugh on my side saying that before we give our explanation was first necessary to create a need (as for infantile amnesia), as Army Hi can not save souls before they instilled a sense of sin.

After the meeting, We had two days of relaxation in a delightful. The participants all knew intimately, and it made a nice meet-ing family, in which I was cordially welcomed. The ψα has all along been the focus of discussion, and in circumstances as naturally friendly and informal it was possible to explain difficult points satisfactorily. McDougall, d’Oxford, I was asked to analyze a dream, and we spent a whole morning. It emerged amount of material which made a strong impression as to the accuracy of our methods and our findings. They asked me to participate in their next conference in November on the "relationship emotion / impulse" in January and give a lecture on the Discharge4 (I had talked for 1 ½ h. the meeting, explaining that I could not deal with a small portion of the subject). Now, I therefore good reasons to be relaxed and I hope that others will put. A smart young psychologist, Pear of Man-chester (5), has done and confirms the findings for adult life, though not yet for Children.

You are right to say that Jung probably try the tactic of compromise if we autorisions to speak to our society, this is why I opposed my veto, especially since we have little solid members.

Can you tell me a word of Internat. Congress for Sexology, to be held in Berlin in October? I do not see your name on the list of sponsors ? Y was he a reason for this ? The Royal Society of Medicine asked me to represent them in Congress, and I tentatively accepted, even if, as I told them, it is unlikely that I go (6).

What you said Loe did not surprise ; we can only hope the best. I guess I'll see in a month.

Again my best wishes for your holidays, hoping that nothing vien delay the dra-.

Affectionately to you

Jones.

Dear Jones,

This is a bad time to write letters, time the hottest and most intense work of the year. I'm pretty exhausted and decided to close shop next Saturday ; our departure was made uncertain by the sudden illness of my sister, a bad flu with bronchopneumonia, she has a fever for a week and, as you know, it is impossible to say how it will evolve. My daughter will leave the 7 this month, she will go to England 15, and perhaps you will the opportunity to view or before August.

Regarding Loe, morphine campaign was cut short ; trying to break free, she became so miserable that it was impossible to continue in the short time that we had before us. She had started too late, and had a lot of trouble consciously, but the internal resistance is too high. As the success of recent years, it is easy to understand that there has consented because she was not satisfied. This time, it was, and she had to learn what were the difficulties. I do not think she has cheated us more than once (I knew) during treatment, and I guess it is more reliable than his accuser. I hope it will stick now to smaller doses. The uncertainty about the true nature of his pain was a barrier to treatment therefore. After studying its latest reactions, I incline strongly to the solution - from the far more important is indeed hysterical.

I am delighted that you inherit the good company of Ferenczi, because I am in need of a few weeks this summer isolation. I wrote to Abraham to offer him his hand circular 20 this month, unless the holy men of Switzerland react before. I am delighted that you are inaccessible to Jung when it comes to London. He could try flattery and compromise.

Yours, with my best wishes

Freud
